Peter Wheldrake, 50, Skate, Snowboard, Wakeboarding and BMX entrepreneur
It's with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing on August 17 of Peter Wheldrake. He was the beloved husband of Joyce, father of Brodie and Charlotte, son of Jack and Diane, brother of Sean, Lesley and Mark, and cherished son-in-law of Dorothy Beauchamp and Father in law Nickolas Knought of Thunder Bay.
Peter was the founder and owner of Canada's largest & longest-running skate and snowboard shop, Hogtown Extreme Sports. He grew up in Don Mills, attending Don Mills Collegiate. There wasn’t a day that went by where Peter could not be found being towed by his pit bull Max on the streets in and around the Don Mills area. Peter officially opened Hogtown in September 1984, and was instrumental in bringing snowboarding to the ski hills of Ontario and Quebec. He inspired many through his tireless devotion to his passions of skateboarding and snowboarding.
Peter was also an enthusiastic outdoorsman, camping, cottaging and acting as a camp counselor for many years. He recently started his own camp, skate and recreation park on the shores of Haliburton Lake: Lake Haliburton Adventures, Ltd.
A service will be held Monday, August 29th at Giffin-Mack Funeral Chapel 2570 Danforth Avenue, visitation from 10-12, service at noon. Online condolences can be submitted at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Peter-Wheldrake-RIP/180194175385771

In the wee hours of August 21st, our beloved and precious son, Joshua Daniel Rewa, lost control of his car and was killed. Born August 3, 1992, Joshua's tragic and untimely death falls on the heels of his 19th birthday and recent high school graduation. Joshua was a kind and wonderful human being, full of life, laughter and sense of adventure. His infectious smile and zest for living drew in all those that met him. Joshua was the third of four boys and loved to be in the company of his brothers. He shared a passion for dirt biking with younger brother Landon, revelled in the company of older brothers, Jordon and Dayton, regardless of what they were doing, and was thrilled to be with friends, whether it was skateboarding, wakeboarding, rapping, or floating down the Minden River. Other hopes and dreams included college in the new year and travelling across Canada. Though Joshua only graced our lives for such a short period of time, he lived each day to the fullest. His passing will leave an enormous hole in the hearts of many and he will be painfully missed by his mother and father, Sharon and Paul, brothers, Jordon, Dayton and Landon, his grandmother, June Pegg, aunts and uncles, Mary Ann Pegg, Nancy Clarke, Nina Rewa, Dean Pegg, Nick (Marion) Rewa and Andrew (Michelle), and his cousins, Chad, Jonathon, Thomas, Juylia and Connor, as well as his extended family and many friends.
